Roger Galatas Interests

A 4,600-acre master planned community is now under development near the cities of Biloxi and Gulfport on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Roger Galatas Interests was retained as Advisor by the property owner, Columbus Communities LLC of New Orleans, to select, organize and direct a team of professionals to prepare a master development plan and strategy including entitlements for the largest master planned community ever undertaken in that state. The effort included market research, preliminary engineering, environmental evaluation and approvals, land use plan, an economic model; community governance recommendations; marketing and branding; public funding opportunities and development recommendations. Through this process a state law was passed to allow creation of a special purpose utility district; a development agreement and zoning was obtained for 12,000 dwelling units, some 2,000,000 square feet of commercial development, two golf courses and various institutional facilities; and approximately $30,000,000 in state and federal grants were obtained to construct major roadway improvements for benefit of the project and adjacent area.

Development is now underway for the initial residential phase, a neo-traditional neighborhood to capture the charm and tradition of gulf coast architecture. A new high school has been constructed in the community and plans are being developed for a college campus.
